Carl Mays has been a featured speaker at over 4,000 events and is the author of over a dozen published works, including books, dramas and musicals. He has received the Council of Peers Award for Excellence and the Certified Speaking Professional designations from the National Speakers Association, and is a member of the Speaker Hall of Fame.

Carl is an encourager who helps you to take advantage of who you are, with what you have, where you are. He wants to help you embrace your opportunities to succeed – in school, sports, career, family and all of life. Carl says, “To various degrees we all experience successes – and failures. Most of us know what it is like to have a mountain-top feeling – as well as feel lower than a snake with fallen arches. I have experienced both levels. The key is not to allow success to go to your head, nor allow temporary failure to become total defeat.”

People are often overcome by the obstacles they encounter day-in and day-out. People are often defeated by the troubles and problems that are a part of life. And just as some people get hung-up on their successes, some do allow temporary failures to become total defeat. Neither pitfall has to happen to you.

We average hearing seven criticisms to every one compliment we receive. And most of us remember negative comments far longer than positive ones. Since we often see ourselves through the eyes of people who discourage us, many of our limitations become self-imposed. This is why Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote: “Most of us die with our music still in us.” Through his work, Carl challenges you to remove those self-imposed limitations. He challenges you to release your music and Sing Your Song!

Through Carl’s work you will find inspiration – and, importantly, you will find solid “meat” that will assist you in putting the inspiration into action!

In his speaking and writing Carl deals with motivation, teamwork, communication, leadership and basic human relations as emphasized in the 9 major principles outlined in his classic presentation and book, A Strategy For Winning:

  1. Accept Yourself And Your Worth
  2. Develop And Maintain A Winning Attitude
  3. Be Creative
  4. Build On Failure
  5. Clarify Your Values
  6. Set Goals
  7. Visualize
  8. Enjoy, Like, And Appreciate Others
  9. Do It Now!
